This Kind of Love Is Extraordinary. So Is This Kind of Hard.
You opened your home and your heart.
You chose this intentionally, hopefully, with everything you had. And you meant every bit of it.
What you didn’t anticipate was how complicated the road would be. Some nights you wonder if you’re going to make it through and feel guilty for even wondering. Or maybe the one who was adopted or fostered is you.
The thing you carry is hard to name. A loss that happened before you had words for it. A question about where you came from and what it means. A complicated mix of love and grief for people and places and versions of yourself that live in the gaps of your story.
Living between two worlds has been the quiet shape of your life, and you’ve never quite found a therapist who understood what that actually feels like from the inside.
Sound familiar? Good. You’re in the right place.
Why This Work Asks for Someone Who’s Lived It
Adoption and foster care shape people in profound ways. The healing has to be just as profound.
This is deeply specific work that asks for a therapist who knows it from the inside out, because generic family therapy keeps missing the parts that matter most.
Claire, our founder, grew up in a transracial adoptive family and has been a foster parent herself. This is something she has lived, watched, and cared about deeply for as long as she can remember.
The dynamics that show up in adoptive and foster families are genuinely different from those in other family systems. Attachment disruption in early childhood shapes the brain and nervous system in specific ways that talk-therapy-as-usual misses.
Children who’ve experienced early loss, neglect, or multiple placement changes relate to caregivers and to the world in ways that feel confusing, heartbreaking, and exhausting. Connection has felt dangerous to them, and their nervous systems learned to protect against it long before language could explain it.
We’re unspookable, and nothing is off limits.
What We Offer
Individual therapy for adoptive and foster parents. A place to be honest about the hardest parts without being judged for naming them.
Individual therapy for adoptive and foster youth and adults. Your whole story is welcome here, with no one else’s feelings to protect.
Integrated family support as needed. When the work calls for the whole system in the room, we’ll help coordinate it.

What Therapy Can Honestly Do Here
We’re honest with you about what therapy here can do, and what it can’t.
The hard parts don’t disappear on a tidy timeline. The complexity of your family’s story rarely resolves into something simple. What therapy gives you is steadier ground to carry it from, more language to name what’s happening, and real company in the work.
For parents, that looks like feeling less alone in the hardest moments. Having real language for what your child is experiencing, and more options for how to respond. Showing up with steadiness even when things are hard, because you’re supported enough to keep going.
For adoptees and foster youth, that looks like finally having a place where your whole story belongs. Language for things you’ve carried for years. A clearer sense of who you are, inside questions that don’t fully resolve.
Trust your wisdom. You don’t have to have it all figured out to reach out.
